Route surveying follows a line across the landscape rather than enclosing a parcel. Roads, pipelines, transmission corridors and drainage improvements all run through many ownerships, and each crossing has to be established with the same care as a boundary.
The centreline is the spine of the work. Everything else, the right of way limits, the easements to be acquired, the existing improvements, is measured in relation to it.
What the work covers
- Centreline establishment or recovery, with curve geometry and stationing

- Parcel ownership along the corridor, and the strip to be taken from each
- Easement sketches and legal descriptions for acquisition
- Existing improvements, drainage and utilities within the corridor
